Maximizing Adaptivity in Hierarchical Topological Models Using Cancellation Trees

چکیده
We present a highly adaptive hierarchical representation of the topology of functions defined over two-manifold domains. Guided by the theory of Morse-Smale complexes, we encode dependencies between cancellations of critical points using two independent structures: a traditional mesh hierarchy to store connectivity information and a new structure called cancellation trees to encode the configuration of critical points. Cancellation trees provide a powerful method to increase adaptivity while using a simple, easy-to-implement data structure. The resulting hierarchy is significantly more flexible than the one previously reported [4]. In particular, the resulting hierarchy is guaranteed to be of logarithmic height.

متن کاملDeveloping a New Bi-Objective Functions Model for a Hierarchical Location-Allocation Problem Using the Queuing Theory and Mathematical Programming
In this research, a hierarchical location-allocation problem is modeled in a queue framework. The queue model is considered as M/M/1/k, in which system capacity is finite, equals to k. This is the main contribution of the current research. Customer's enters to the system in order to find the service according to a Poisson. In this problem, the hierarchical location-allocation model is considere...
متن کاملTowards an Integrated Approach for Task Modeling and Human Behavior Recognition
Mobile and ubiquitous systems require task models for addressing the challenges of adaptivity and situation-aware assistance. Today, both challenges are seen as separate issues in system development, addressed by different modeling concepts. We propose an approach for a unified modeling concept that uses annotated hierarchical task trees for synthesizing models for both areas from a common basi...
متن کاملGriffiths phases and localization in hierarchical modular networks
We study variants of hierarchical modular network models suggested by Kaiser and Hilgetag [ Front. in Neuroinform., 4 (2010) 8] to model functional brain connectivity, using extensive simulations and quenched mean-field theory (QMF), focusing on structures with a connection probability that decays exponentially with the level index. Such networks can be embedded in two-dimensional Euclidean spa...
متن کاملDynamic Pricing with Periodic Review and a Finite set of Prices with Cancellation
In this paper, three dynamic pricing models are developed and analyzed. We assume a limited number of a particular asset is offered for sale over a period of time. This asset is perishable and can be an inventory or a manufacturing capacity. During each period, the seller sets a price for this asset. This price is selected from a predetermined discrete set. The maximum amount which a customer i...
